Suffolk Police Officers Deliver Baby in Amityville Home

AMITYVILLE, NY — A newborn baby made her way into the world Thursday morning, with the help of two police officers.

At about 7:42 a.m., First Precinct Officers Michael Stroehlein and Diego Montero responded to a Greybarn Lane residence, after a 911 caller reported a woman in labor.

When the officers arrived, they found the woman, Stefanie Andrade, 33, in labor in the bathroom of her apartment.

The officers assisted Andrade in delivering a baby girl and used a shoelace to tie off the umbilical cord until EMTs arrived.

The mother and baby, Callie, were transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip in good condition.
