Suffolk Police Officer Assists In 3rd Baby Delivery In 6 Month Period

SAYVILLE, NY — A Suffolk County police officer is making a name for himself, after he recently helped deliver his third emergency birth in six months.

On Monday, Officer Anthony Reyes, a member of the SCPD MedCAT (Medical Crisis Action Team), arrived to a High Street residence in Sayville, to assist in a birth.

However, the "baby had already made her debut", Suffolk County Police Department's social media post said.

Reyes then "took charge" and put clamps on the umbilical cord, while helping the proud father cut it.

This is the third time Reyes has assisted in a baby delivery in the last six months, the post said.

The Community Ambulance Company then responded and took the happy mom and her baby to a local hospital.

Last week, two other police officers helped a woman deliver a baby in her Amityville apartment.
